What to expect
Your support from Polaris Speech starts with an initial phone consultation to determine next steps. If appropriate, we will complete an evaluation and create a plan of care together including the many intervention options that Polaris Speech has available. Even if therapy isn't appropriate at the moment, we have options for consultations, education and resources assessments to help optimize your quality of life with neurological disease.
Before beginning therapy, a comprehensive evaluation will be completed. We offer clinical swallow evaluations, speech, language, and cognitive assessments. We will discuss current strengths, challenges, and your goals. Together we will develop a plan of care including therapeutic intervention either in your home or via telehealth and provide any additional community and online resources which may be beneficial.
In-person Individual Therapy
After a plan of care is developed, if you decide in-home therapy is most appropriate, our speech-language pathologist will work with you in your home for all your needs. This setting allows the most functional therapeutic intervention and is an effective means for you to carry over newly learned skills into your everyday life.
Telehealth Group or
If you live outside of our service area, are interested in group therapy, or would prefer telehealth services, our speech-language pathologist will provide the same quality therapeutic interventions through the internet. You only require a computer or phone with internet access, a camera and microphone.
After being discharged from skilled therapy, it is sometimes recommended to schedule wellness services to continue the use of skills gained in therapy. Cognitive and communicative stimulation visits can encourage continued use of previously taught strategies and prolong the support to the care partner throughout the journey with neurological disease.
